Lysol: #LYSOLTHAT

The Situation: Lysol’s biggest sales season was approaching, Cold & Flu Season, and they wanted to have a stand out year. So in addition to their regular cold and flu campaign, Lysol wanted social content that would drive more awareness and even more usage.

The Insight: People don’t think about getting a cold or the flu, or the surfaces cold and flu germs are living on until they, someone in their family, or someone they’ve been around is sick (i.e. they need a reason to think about cold and flu prevention and where germs are living).

The Strategy / Brief: Villainize all of the surfaces that many people touch and many germs live on during cold and flu season. Then show everyone how easily Lysol can defeat all those germs.

The Idea: #LYSOLTHAT

The Results: The campaign made people aware of how necessary using Lysol on surfaces during cold and flu season is. The content outperformed their traditional campaign and #LYSOLTHAT went from being just social content to replacing Lysol’s full cold and flu campaign across all channels (TV, social, OLV, etc).
